There are 13 towers in the Kremlin, and all of them are steeped in a myriad of legends and stories. The Dmitrievskaya Tower is, of course, the most recognizable landmark of the city. The image of this tower is canonically chosen whenever there is a need for a graphic designation of Nizhny Novgorod. The Zachatyevskaya Tower (Conception Tower) is the newest one in the Kremlin. It was restored and opened to the general public in 2012. Previously destroyed by a landslide and dismantled in the 18th century, it was re-built to close the Kremlin Ring once again.
