The cableway linking Kazanskaya Embankment with the satellite town of Bor, which is renowned for its glassworks, is the city’s main transport attraction.
In operation for over a decade, it has the longest unsupported span over water in Europe (just shy of one kilometer) and is quite affordable, with a one-way ticket priced at just 100 rubles. The cabin is designed to sit 8 people, but you can wait until no one is around, say towards the end of the day, and have a romantic trip for two.
The ride takes just 12 minutes, but it’s well worth it. The cableway runs all year round, but be prepared for enormous lines in summer, as there are lots of people eager to have a bird’s eye view of Nizhny Novgorod.
