One of the best spots in the city for taking pictures of the famous Nizhny Novgorod sunsets, just make sure to add #capitalofsunsets to your social media post. The view of the part of Nizhny Novgorod on the left bank of the Oka, the Fair, the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium and the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral opening up from here literally paralyzes many tourists. A lot of people have their favorite spots of grass here where they can have a picnic or fly kites.
There is also a monument to Maxim Gorky, who stands contemplating and admiring the confluence of the Oka and the Volga. Let’s keep this between ourselves: cross the bridge and you’ll find yourself on the Grebeshkovsky Slope (aka Grebeshok), which has stunning views and some locals aren’t even aware of it. In 2021, the embankment was renovated and you can now enjoy the 800th Anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod Park here. With its amphitheaters, swings and hammocks, it is a very trendy and modern space. The most stunning change is a major light installation over the renovated embankment. Over 1,000 lighting fixtures!
