The Kremlin is the heart of the city. It hosts many administrative buildings, an open-air exhibition of military equipment, the Eternal Flame monument, the Arsenal Center for Contemporary Arts, and the State Art Museum with its formidable collection. Make sure you get to the viewing deck of the Bell Tower, visit the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel with Kuzma Minin’s tomb, but, above all, take in the magnificent views of the Volga and the Oka rivers that open up before your eyes.
There are many stories and legends associated with the 13 towers of the Kremlin: about a girl who was buried alive in one of the towers, or about the lost library of Ivan the Terrible, or even about the great Leonardo da Vinci himself playing a hand in designing the 16th-century stone Kremlin. After recent restoration of the Kremlin, the wall circuit has been launched for the first time in several hundred years. The many windows and loopholes offer incredible views.
