The Nizhny Novgorod Comedy Theater may be one of the most visited in the city. Its repertoire is fairly broad, ranging from William Shakespeare to Boris Akunin. From colorful musicals to subtle lyrical comedies, biting satires and pamphlets, almost every genre of comedy can be found here. Since 2000, the Comedy Theater has been a popular guest performance venue.

Satyrikon Theater, Oleg Tabakov Theater, Pyotr Fomenko Workshop Theater and many other famous Russian and international theaters bring their performances here. You should watch Leading Ladies, an overwhelming local favorite, and don’t miss Syschiki (The Detectives), a production based on the short story The Case of the Molitovka Neighborhood Poisoners by the Nizhny Novgorod historical detective writer Nikolai Svechin.
