Located on the bank of the Volga River next to the Rowing Canal, the Victory Park was made in 1985 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic Wat (World War II). It is a true open-air museum: a number of artillery pieces, military and civil equipment, airplanes, tanks, and the famous Katyusha rocket launcher are on public display here. It is all there for you to touch and explore, which must be why this park is so popular with children. There are also naval exhibits here, for example, the famous ekranoplan (ground-effect vehicle), developed by Rostislav Alexeyev, a prominent designer from Nizhny Novgorod.
