The Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium used to occupy the Church of St. Alexis, Metropolitan of Moscow for over fifty years until its relocation to a new building, which marked its second birth.
The new top-of-the-line planetarium bears the name of space pilot Georgy Grechko. It runs an extensive cultural program and a packed schedule of activities, so you can visit and find things to do virtually any day. The «Astronomy Hall» recreates the starry sky and you can learn what celestial bodies will be visible tonight or in six months’ time. The «Cosmonautics Hall» let you try out the space training simulator for manual approach and docking of the «Soyuz-TMA» spacecraft with the International Space Station. The main Star Hall has a 16-meter dome screen, capable of sending you on a virtual journey through the Universe. Then there is the open astronomical observatory that offers access to a real-life telescope or a walk among lunar craters. This is a fascinating experience for all ages.
