The Radius House was among the first high-rise buildings in the city. Building No. 32 on Molodezhny Avenue stands out for the number of stories (seven) as well as for the style of its foresides. The building is of a radially arched shape, which lends the house its name. A similar building can be found on Fedorovskogo Embankment. Legend has it that this type of design got traction in the 1930s due to the symbolic representation of the unity of all workers, where the wide radius of the building is meant as a line encircling the entire planet.
The monumental forms, half-circle staggered balconies, round columns propping up the ledge — the house comes together in the rational classical style. Tenured honor workers, doctors and factory managers were granted apartments here.
It also used to have a number of communal apartments and there were residential accommodations for workers on the upper floors.
The roof of the house stationed air defense guns during World War II, and their mounting bases were removed only in 1998.
