This is a unique collection of old equipment and tools by a Nizhny Novgorod collector Vyacheslav Khurtin. The museum that used to be privately owned for a long time has more than 2,000 exhibits, many of which, such as factory machinery and various music equipment, are still in good working order.
Everyday items are particularly impressive: take an oil-fired bicycle lamp, for example. They make it apparent how fast the technology evolves. It is best to take one of the many guided tours offered by the museum, as the exhibition is quite extensive. For example, «The Art of Sealed Sound» tour will show you how a musical organ, gramophone and portable phonograph work, and you can watch old films and learn everything there is to know about projection equipment during a lecture in the cinema hall.
