Almost everyone in Nizhny Novgorod since their school years must have gone to the Young Spectator’s Theater, which is equally loved by children and adults, as it has a large repertoire of both classics and modern plays. The actors here love experimentation. They run theater laboratories, have improvisation battles, and discuss performances with the audience. The theater has two halls, the larger and the smaller one, and regularly hosts guest performances. It is here that you can enjoy the performances that have won the prestigious Golden Mask Award.
Take a good look at the theater’s building; built in 1978, it is a great example of Soviet Postmodernism. The stairs here are very unusual — with two rows of railings, for children and adults. As well as being convenient to use, this symbolizes openness to spectators of all ages.
