Formerly one of Nizhny Novgorod’s most important promenades, Verkhne-Volzhskaya (Upper Volga) Embankment is where you can admire the river views and take a good look at the splendid Rukavishnikov Mansion, Sirotkin Residence and House of Kamenskikh along the way. Although over the years Nizhne-Volzhskaya (Lower Volga) Embankment, which is more fashionable and better equipped, has taken up the mantle of popularity, its upper counterpart is still loved by the locals. Running down to the Volga is a steep slope, popularly called «Otkos».
